Richard Tatum, President

In his role as President, Richard Tatum oversees Midsouth Consulting Group's sales and business development initiatives. He works closely with the team of sales consultants responsible for bringing the company's innovative HR, payroll and retirement plan solutions to clients nationwide.

Richard's career at Midsouth Consulting Group started in 1998 when he interned at Midsouth Pension Consultants. Though he was two years into his Pre-Med studies at Lipscomb University at the time, Richard enjoyed his experience at Midsouth Pension Consultants so much that decided to pursue a business degree. After receiving his Bachelor of Science in Finance/Economics and Business Management (Magna Cum Laude), Richard joined Midsouth full time.

After becoming partner in 2002, Richard assumed responsibility for operations and 401(k) plan administration. He revamped the company's IT system and implemented new software to streamline and integrate services. Richard holds a variety of professional certifications, including Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist (CRPS®), Qualified 401(k) Administrator (QKA) and Qualified Pension Administrator (QPA). He is a member of the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries (ASPPA), and the Middle Tennessee Employee Benefits Council.

A believer in community service, Richard is a graduate of the Leadership Brentwood class of 2009 and currently serves as secretary for the Leadership Brentwood steering board. He has served as the Sponsorship Chair for the Bone Bash, an annual fundraiser for the Arthritis Foundation. He has also served as a volunteer mentor with Christian Community Services, Inc.

In his spare time, Richard enjoys tennis, golf and watching football. He and his wife, Suzanne, are avid tennis fans who have attended the U.S. Open for the last seven years. They have one daughter.
